The Farm to Fork strategy, included within the European Green Deal, aims to reinforce the set of guidelines on food safety, animal welfare, traceability or environmental sustainability which were already a part of the European Production Model — the most demanding in the world and one that the Ibérico sector actively supports.
There is no region in the world where animals have, by law, more space, better hygienic conditions, or greater comfort. This well-being is extended throughout the entire production chain, ensures the highest quality products.
To reinforce this commitment and as a pioneering initiative worldwide, the sector is launching the IBERIAN ANIMAL WELFARE SEAL (IBAW). This certification will allow consumers to identify products obtained by following the best practices in animal production regarding animal welfare, health, biosecurity, animal management, and traceability, as outlined by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and EU regulations.
A certification brand that guarantees animal welfare standards even more stringent than those set by European and national regulations, and conveys the sector’s commitment to quality and transparency.
